Links

Hey everyone, please check out the website of a colleague of mine here who has taken some excellent photos of Palestine.

www.stricklyimaging.com

I'll put the link up in the column to the side which includes links to more balanced and truthful reporting from both the war in Lebanon and Palestine in particular. If you're getting your Middle East news online you might as well get it from a Middle East perspective or at least supplement your cnn.com.

For detailed news from each area of Palestine check out...

and for informative and persuasive information on the Occupation and the War in Lebanon...

Please think about the way your news is being reported.

Amazing photos. Thanks for this link and the others. I've sent them off to friends, family and colleagues who may not be accessing this blog.

There has also been an online petition making its way around which is to be sent to the UN re. a cease-fire in Lebanon. Not sure what impact these things have but have signed it and sent it on as well. http://www.ceasefirecampaign.org/

We're looking forward to your safe return as always!

I get where yr coming from on the bias of reporters, for sure.
Something to bear in mind (which you/we are actually participating in right now), is the growing movement toward 'citizen journalism' (a good read on this is We The Media by Dan Gillmor).

Blog sites such as Baghdad's Burning (etc), have a connection to what's actually going on that goes far deeper than any correspondent's report could. That's a solid way to avoid the cnnisms of the media.

However, on the correspondent side of things I've been pretty interested in the foreign correspondents' blogs on cbc.ca (found here: http://www.cbc.ca/news/reportsfromabroad/middleeast/), which, if nothing else, show the human behind the reporter.

To me, that recognition is important. Its the first step toward recognizing that bias happens at all.

Take care.
